Great Bear Snow Shed

In partnership with British Columbia Ministry of Transportation and VSA Highway Maintenance, The Re-Systems Group Canada completed the injection waterproofing at the Great Beat Snow Shed, located on the Coquihalla Highway.  Located between Hope and Merritt, the snow shed is a 300 metre long structure that protects six highway lanes from potential avalanches in one of the province’s highest snowfall regions.

The original roofing membrane had failed over the years and there were several locations in the snow shed with severe leaks.  Because of the soil build up over the roof, it was nearly impossible to dig down to the original waterproofing membrane.  The leaking water in the tunnel interfered with electrical mountings as well as dripping on traffic.  In winter time, there were additional hazards like the forming of icicles.

The Re-Systems Group Canada, with our Turbo Seal U injection waterproofing technology, was able to inject our non-curing, self-healing membrane over some of the critical areas of the snow shed, successfully stopping much of the water ingress.
